Working in Cold Weather

When working in cold conditions, Manitoba workers can be affected by air temperature, air movement (wind speed) and humidity (wetness). If you are working outside in cold conditions, you could be vulnerable to cold stress, which could result in frostbite or hypothermia if you are not prepared for the cold environment. These challenges should be counterbalanced by proper insulation (layered protective clothing), physical activity and controlled exposure to cold (work/rest schedule).
