​​Psychologically traumatic workplace events (known as critical incidents) can occur in any type of work environment. 

A critical incident is an event that takes place suddenly — like an injury, fatality or robbery — which can cause emotional or psychological trauma in people directly exposed to the in​cident. The following information sheets outline how to support workers in crisis:
