1. How to Enter
No purchase necessary. Contestants can receive entries for the contest by requesting one or more of 8 eligible resources in one (or more) of 18 languages in two ways:
1) email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “SAFE Committee Contest" (2) call 204-957-SAFE (toll-free 1-855-957-SAFE).
Eligible resources include:
1) How to Resolve Safety Concerns (Bulletin 184); 2) Cold Stress Tip Card; 3) Employer and Worker Responsibilities tip card; 4) SAFE Work is Everyone's Responsibility brochure; 5) Right to Refuse (Bulletin 193); 6) Worker Rights (Bulletin 231); 7) Safety and Health Orientation (Bulletin 255); 8) SAFEty is a Language We Can ALL Speak Poster.
Any attempts to tamper with the entry process and/or operation of the contest may constitute a violation of law and may result in disqualification from this contest and any future contests by SAFE Work Manitoba.
Prizes: There is one (1) prize of $30 Tim Hortons gift cards for each member of a workplace's safety and health committee. Approximate retail value of the prizes is as follows: $30 x the number of members on the committee.
3. Contest Eligibility
Contestants must be 18 years of age or older and residents of Manitoba to participate in this contest. Employees of SAFE Work Manitoba, the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba (WCB), Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) and their immediate families with whom they reside, and any employee of their respective agents, representatives, promotional agencies and assignees are not eligible to win this contest.
SAFE Work Manitoba reserves the right to lock out persons whose eligibility is in question.
4. Contest Closing Date
The contest closing date is December 10, 2018, at or about 4:00 PM CT.
5. Selection of Winner
The potential winner will be randomly selected among the entries and the name of the winning entry will be declared the potential winner.
The potential winner will be contacted by email or phone. If a potential winner is unable to be reached in that manner within one (1) week of the draw, another eligible entry will be drawn and the process will be repeated until the prize is awarded. Winning is subject to the selected participant successfully answering a skill testing question. The winner's name will be posted on http://safemanitoba.com.
The prize draw will be made at or about the following time: 1 PM on Monday, December 17, 2018.
6. Chances of Winning
The chances of winning a prize will depend on the total number of eligible entries received before the draw deadlines in accordance with these rules. Entries will remain active from the time of submission until the end of the contest.
7. No Substitutions by Winners
The prize must be accepted as awarded without substitution, and cannot be transferred. The prize has no cash equivalent.
8. Decisions Final
All decisions made with respect to all aspects of this contest are final and not subject to challenge. These rules may be amended at any time without notice. SAFE Work Manitoba expressly reserves the right to take any steps it deems necessary in its absolute discretion, including the right to modify the contest and methods of entry, in order to ensure that the contest is conducted in a fair way for all contestants and for SAFE Work Manitoba.
9. No Liability
SAFE Work Manitoba, WCB, WSH and their employees, agents, representatives, promotional agencies and assignees shall not be responsible in any way for loss or damage arising from the use of, or bear any liability whatsoever in any way attributable to, the prizes awarded in this contest or the entry by a contestant herein. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, SAFE Work Manitoba, WCB and WSH assume no responsibility or liability for any risk or dangers associated with the acceptance or use of the prizes awarded as part of this contest or any liability associated with online or electronic entries, and expressly disclaims liability from loss or damage to a contestant's computer system howsoever caused arising from bugs, viruses, malicious software or technical failures in any way associated with or arising from online or electronic entries.
10. Contest Entries
All entries become the property of SAFE Work Manitoba. All entries are subject to verification and may be declared invalid if they are suspected to have been forged, falsified or tampered with in any way.
11. Lost Entries
SAFE Work Manitoba, WCB and WSH are not responsible for any lost, misdirected or delayed entries.
12. Consent to Use
By entering the contest, entrants consent to the use and publication of their name and statements in connection with the contest or any subsequent promotions held by SAFE Work Manitoba, without payment or compensation other than the chance to win the prize awarded. SAFE Work Manitoba reserves the right to use the ideas and stories submitted in the contest to develop future SAFE Work public awareness and advertising campaigns.
13. Applicable Laws
This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations and disputes relating hereto will be determined by a Manitoba court applying Manitoba law and the laws of Canada as applicable therein.
SAFE Work Manitoba reserves the right to make a prize substitution of equivalent value in the event of unavailability of the prize or any aspect thereof for reasons beyond the control of SAFE Work Manitoba. In the event of a prize substitution, the substitute prize must be accepted as awarded, and cannot be transferred.
15. Errors and Omissions Excepted
SAFE Work Manitoba, the WCB and WSH are not responsible for printing, distribution or production errors and may, in their discretion, withdraw this contest if it is found to contain any such error, without liability to anyone whatsoever.
16. Personal Information
The personal information obtained from the contest entry form will not be used or disclosed by SAFE Work Manitoba for any purpose other than general contest administration and the purpose set forth in Section 12 above. SAFE Work Manitoba operates under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and will protect personal information with security safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. SAFE Work Manitoba will securely delete or dispose of personal contact information within six (6) months of the close of the contest. Stories and submissions may be retained indefinitely without identifying contact information unless express consent is received from the entrants.
