Working with Manitoba's Medical Community
In April 2003, the SAFE Group presented a Disability Management Program and standardized Physical Capabilities Analysis form to physicians from the Regional Heath Authority Central Office during a lunch meeting on one of their educational days. Excitement, interest and an abundance of questions tuned the 1/2 hour session into a 1-1/4 hour session, followed by an afternoon tour through 3 or 4 of our facilities.
The reception from the physicians was very positive - so much so that the standardized Physical Capabilities Analysis form presented by the SAFE Group is now being used by many companies throughout the province with several different medical communities.
Improving Participation
In 2004/05, SAFE Group has been working on improving participation in its Disability Management Programs by educating the local chiropractors and physiotherapists. The idea is to find ways to enhance service for employees by directly involving the professionals they will be turning to for help. The local chiropractors and physiotherapists offer advice and insights into ways to further improve the programs from both the professional and consumer perspectives.
